Pistol Method

PSC’s Pistol Method (12 hours, INTERMEDIATE skill level) is a technical course of fire designed to teach and reinforce the fundamentals of practical pistol shooting.

We meet Friday evening for discussion of safety protocols and shooting theory. Instructors interact with students utilizing both pistol simulators and live guns. Baseline skill levels are quickly assessed, and any gear issues are sorted out.

Shooting skills are developed and enhanced on Saturday. Material covered includes grip, strong hand only shooting, body alignment, presentation (achieving natural index), aiming, trigger manipulation, two-handed shooting, ammunition management, target transitions, simple malfunction clearance (immediate action), and method integration.

Instructors explain and demonstrate practice techniques so that students may continue to develop with confidence.

You MUST HAVE the following to participate:

  • PSC’s Weapons Primer or equivalent
  • eye protection
  • hearing protection (electronic preferred)
  • sturdy, stiff belt (min. 1.5″ width)
  • Kydex® holster
  • Kydex® magazine carrier
  • semi-auto pistol of at least .380 caliber
  • three spare magazines (min.)
  • 350 rounds of factory FMJ ammo (min.)
  • weapon lubricant
  • tourniquet (C-A-T® or SOF®TT-W)
  • pen and small notepad

Carbine Method

PSC’s Carbine Method (12 hours, INTERMEDIATE skill level) is a technical course of fire designed to teach and reinforce the fundamentals of practical carbine shooting.

We meet Friday evening for discussion of safety protocols and shooting theory. Instructors interact with students utilizing both carbine simulators and live guns.

Skills are developed and enhanced on Saturday. Material covered includes body alignment, presentation, the mount, aiming, recoil control, reloads, ammunition management, and target transitions.

Instructors explain and demonstrate practice techniques so that students may continue to develop with confidence.

You MUST HAVE the following to participate:

  • ballistic eye protection
  • hearing protection
  • sturdy belt
  • adjusting two point sling
  • semi auto carbine of at least 5.45mm caliber
  • three spare magazines
  • 300 rounds of factory FMJ ammunition
  • weapon lubricant
  • tourniquet

Shotgun Method

PSC’s Shotgun Method (12 hours, INTERMEDIATE skill level) is a technical course of fire designed to teach and reinforce the fundamentals of practical shotgun shooting.

We meet Friday evening for discussion of safety protocols and shooting theory. Instructors interact with students utilizing both shotgun simulators and live guns.

Skills are developed and enhanced on Saturday. Material covered includes body alignment, presentation, the mount, aiming, recoil control, reloads, ammunition management, and target transitions.

Instructors explain and demonstrate practice techniques so that students may continue to develop with confidence.

You MUST HAVE the following to participate:

  • semi auto or pump shotgun
  • 250 birdshot shells (a.k.a. game loads)
  • 10 buckshot shells

Concealed Pistol Gunfighting

PSC’s Concealed Pistol Gunfighting (12 hours, INTERMEDIATE skill level) builds your winning response to unavoidable lethal threats.

We meet Friday evening for discussion of safety protocols and shooting theory; in addition, there is a low-light block of instruction.

Shooting skills are further enhanced on Saturday, along with developing a never-quit mindset and sound tactics.

By the end of your training you have an effective response you can confidently call upon in a crisis. Concealed Pistol Gunfighting may be the most relevant shooting class you’ll ever take.

Weapons Primer

PSC’s Weapons Primer (six hours, BASIC skill level) is designed to teach and reinforce the safe fundamentals of weapons handling and operation.

We begin with discussion of safety protocols and the concept of risk. Instructors interact with students utilizing both simulators and live weapons.

Core material covered includes basic field strip/clean/assemble, loading/unloading, condition verification, holstering/drawing, slinging, safety manipulations, and absolute muzzle awareness and trigger finger discipline.

Instructors explain and demonstrate using pistols, revolvers, carbines, and shotguns.

You MUST HAVE the following to participate:

  • ballistic eye protection
  • hearing protection
  • 50 rounds of FMJ ammunition**

PSC’s Weapons Primer is for the novice shooter. If you’ve never handled a gun before or received professional instruction, this is the correct place to start. **It is not necessary to own your own firearm to participate in this event.

You need to bring a snack.

 

Murphy Strikes!

Murphy Strikes! (six hours, ADVANCED skill level) is an advanced gun handling workshop, conducted with strict standards, providing high intensity training for experienced individuals.

MS! drills students on both strong and weak hand only shooting, manipulations, and malfunction clearance techniques. Students utilize unfamiliar weapons and shoot from uncommon positions and orientations; close quarters techniques are also covered.

Reactive targets are used in various drills to facilitate a problem-solving mindset.
